Like any workout, hot yoga will make you feel stronger by putting you to the test and putting you way outside of your comfort zone. The heat will make you feel, well, a lot of things. And the point is to get through these experiences peacefully and with discipline, through breathing, allowing and letting go of what comes up. This can be very difficult. You get used to it though the more you practise, like with anything.
Every day we have thousands and thousands of thoughts come up in our minds. Today it’s easy to distract yourself from those with phones, social media, and many other things. Some people say that anything that takes your focus away from your body is a distraction, which means that even thoughts themselves are distractions. In hot yoga, it is very difficult to get away from yourself. You will likely find that you’re losing yourself in your mind a lot, losing focus. Maybe reaching for your water instinctively without a clear intention to do so. Don’t worry about it though, but do notice it. Noticing without reacting is a mindfulness thing, and a skill you will develop when practising hot yoga regularly.
I don’t know about you, but that sounds like strength to me.
